E-commerce Technical Lead
Other/DevelopmentOn behalf of our client, a well-established retail group of companies, we are seeking an experienced and strategically minded E-commerce Technical Lead to lead the technical vision and implementation of group-wide e-commerce platforms. This person will own the re-platforming strategy, oversee architectural decisions, and ensure seamless integration across backend systems such as ERP, CRM, PIM, OMS, and WMS.
A day in the life of an E-commerce Technical Lead
The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with enterprise-grade e-commerce platforms (e.g., Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify Plus), understands the complexities of systems integration, and can translate business needs into scalable, future-proof digital commerce solutions. This role will also be responsible for bringing innovative infrastructure ideas that serve the needs of multiple brands across the group.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the re-platforming initiative and define the technical architecture for the group’s next-generation e-commerce ecosystem.
- Evaluate current systems and processes, identify areas for improvement, and design scalable, integrated solutions.
- Oversee all core integrations with ERP, CRM, PIM, OMS, WMS, and payment gateways.
- Manage and coordinate external development partners and internal IT teams, ensuring delivery within scope, time, and budget.
- Define infrastructure standards (cloud, DevOps, security, monitoring, scalability).
- Ensure platforms meet compliance standards (GDPR, WCAG 2.1 AA, PCI-DSS, etc.)
- Develop and maintain a technical roadmap for all e-commerce platforms within the group, ensuring long-term alignment and synergy across brands.
- Proactively propose and implement modern technologies, tools, and frameworks to future-proof our e-commerce stack.
What you will need
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in technical roles related to enterprise e-commerce platforms.
- Strong knowledge of platforms like Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify Plus, or similar.
- Proven experience with system integrations and real-time data flows between e-commerce and backend systems (ERP, CRM, OMS, etc.).
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), CI/CD pipelines, performance monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, Datadog), and CDNs.
- Solid understanding of security, accessibility, and compliance standards (GDPR, WCAG, PCI-DSS).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strategic mindset combined with technical depth; able to drive both vision and execution.
